PLAGIARISM AND AI-USE POLICY

Hamdard Englicus is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical publishing practices. Plagiarism and unethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in scholarly writing are considered serious violations and will not be tolerated.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of presenting another person’s work, ideas, language, or data as one’s own without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbatim copying of text, images, or data without proper citation

  • Paraphrasing or rephrasing content without appropriate credit

  • Using another researcher’s ideas, arguments, or findings without acknowledgment

  • Self-plagiarism, including the reuse of one’s previously published work without proper citation or disclosure

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy

Hamdard Englicus follows a zero-AI tolerance policy for manuscript writing. Authors are required to ensure that submissions are entirely human-authored and reflect original scholarly effort.

All manuscripts will be screened using reliable AI-detection tools. If a manuscript is found to contain more than 25% AI-generated content, it will not be sent for peer review. The article will only be considered for review after the AI-generated content has been fully removed and the manuscript is resubmitted in compliance with the journal’s policy.

Repeated or intentional violations of the AI-use policy may result in outright rejection or further editorial action.

Policy Implementation

  1. Submission
Authors must submit original manuscripts that have not been published or submitted elsewhere. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that all sources have been properly cited and that the work is original and free from unethical AI use.

  2. Screening
All submissions are screened using plagiarism-detection software (e.g., Turnitin) and AI-detection tools.

    • Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 18% will be returned for correction or rejected.

    • Manuscripts with AI-generated content exceeding 25% will not be forwarded for peer review.

  3. Investigation
In cases of suspected plagiarism or AI misuse, the editorial team will conduct a thorough investigation, which may include consultation with subject experts or communication with the author’s institution.

  4. Consequences
Violations may result in one or more of the following actions:

    • Rejection of the manuscript

    • Withdrawal or retraction of a published article

    • Temporary or permanent ban on future submissions

    • Notification to the author’s affiliated institution or funding agency
